What to do with Dead Laptop Batteries ??

Hello,

My 570 arrived with a dead battery, but I found a cheap used one on ebay from a seller close to me, so the replacement battery is installed and working fine.

So, what do I do with the dead battery?

Do "laptop battery refurbishers" send you free postage-paid envelopes to send them the dead ones?

(I ask because inkjet cartridge refurbishers do that, and then send you a check for $2 as well, and inkjet cartridges cost a lot less than laptop batteries.)

At least bad CD-ROMs can be used as coasters...

I would try to replace the battery cells and see if I can get the battery back to life. The most difficult part which prevents me from actually doing it is that I can't find li-ion battery cells anywhere for my thinkpad 240 battery packo. I found several dealers but they don't deal with end users.

Recycle if you can, lots ot toxic stuff in there that's really bad for the earth. It's pretty much a chemical disaster.

I've now used www.batteryrefill.com twice, once for a Thinkpad x20 and once for a Sony PCG-GRX670. Costs much less than buying a new battery. Send them your old battery and they put in new cells. In my case the battery technology had improved and the new batteries came back with more capacity than they originally had.
