hard drive password software

#1 Post by abb » Thu Jun 08, 2006 3:21 pm

hi, i just purchased a western digital my book external hard drive to supplement my new x60s's 60gb hard drive. it does not come with any security software. can anybody recommend any software to function as a hard drive password for the external hard drive (hopefully freeware)?

thanks.

Lenovo's security client should provide you something called

SecureDisk (something like this).

You can make as many as you want to.

Just designate the size of the SecureDisk as the whole hard drive's capacity.

You can save, edit, etc. And they are automatically encrypted every time.

Windows XP also does encryption of files, folders, and I presume drives. It's not what you would think of as "password protection," since it uses XP's built-in security model.

You could try TrueCrypt;

If I could go with the IBM/Lenovo software, however, I would.

She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
