Wireless Cards

With an A31, which has the built in antennas, I'd stick with an internal card. With the rare expection of using some esoteric attached antenna, PCMCIA adapters simply can't compete with the ability of the built-in antenna to send and receive signal. I've tested this out with my T23 and wife's A30 using both internal as well as PC Card versions and the internal wins handily. Of course, that's my experience only, and others may have different experiences, but I rather doubt it.

As far as weight and power consumption is concern, I really think the difference is negligible. I would also venture to say that, given the choice, you would probably far prefer having an internal antenna than one sticking out the side of your machine. As you can see by my sig, I've had good luck with different Atheros cards, but had to use the 1802 error hack since these cards were not IBM blessed and written in the Bios already.

Good luck with your project.
