Thinkpad Line Out Jack

I have both a 600x and an x24. If I connect the line out cord to the line in of my Klipsch Promedia Ultra 2.0 speakers, there is no sound. However, if I use the headphone out, there is. I'd prefer the line out for a slightly better quality (i.e. no preamplification) since my speakers are amplified. I was wondering if the line out is disabled by default, no?

Biggs is using the X2 Ultrabase with the X24; the Ultrabase does, indeed, have a Line-in audio jack for that.

Christopher Wolf, the X2 Ultrabase does not have audio jacks. I'm using the line OUT at the back of my X24.

The T23, as beeryf mentioned, does not have a line OUT but a line IN instead.

I am not really familiar with the details of the X24, but have you checked the following? Double-click on the Volume Control icon in the notification area (or go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control). Click on Options > Properties. Is the box for Line Out checked? Back to the Volume Control main screen, is the Mute box checked on Line Out?
