Warranty Transfer?

#1 Post by isosmotic » Tue Jul 04, 2006 6:00 pm

I purchased a used T40 about 8 months ago. My machine pretty much crapped out on me. Going through the board, and reading what others have said, I believe its the MoBo. Anyways, I was on the IBM/Lenovo site and I was looking up information about my machine and it says "This product has a special bid three year limited warranty. This product is entitled to parts, labor and on-site repair service (9x5 next business day) in approved locations. Thinkpad batteries have a one year warranty." With an experation date of 2006-11-20. The guy that I got the thinkpad from didnt mention that it had a warranty still left. I was wondering if they warranty transfers to owners or am i SOL? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Yes you can inherit the warranty. Just call IBM technical support and tell them the serial number.

Th warranty follows the machine and its serial number. So when you buy the machine you automatically inherit the warranty. It looks like a good warranty too on-site. Which means someone will come to your house and replace the motherboard while you wait.
