quick questions regarding ibm folders

hi all,

ive been running low on HDD space recently and wanted to free some up. I was thinking of deleting the SWTOOLS, DRIVERS, VALUEADD, IBMTOOLS, and IBMSHARE folders. They total upto 2GB and I could do with the space.

Just wanted to know if its safe to get rid of them, I understand they are merely the installer packages of the software that is already installed but does it in any way mess up the recovery process in case that might at some point need to carried out?

Should I just make a backup? or would the backup file be so large that the point would be lost?

Cheers!

It's probably safer to backup them on a dvd.

You can certainly delete all the Folders in the DRIVERS sub-directory without any problem, but keep the two text files in the top level of the sub-directory. I do this on a regular basis to conserve free disk space.

Cheers,

Bill

This works very well; not only do I recommend it, but I also practice it on my system. Leave the two text files and blow away the rest in there. :)
