Adjusting Touchpad movement speed

#1 Post by bri » Wed Aug 02, 2006 10:15 am

Is there any way to change the Touchpad movement speed? I've scoured the device settings and there is Touch Sensitivity but that doesn't change the speed at all. The arrow movement is way too slow, and the scrolling function goes way too fast.

I use the mouse properties and set pointer speed to the max, it takes a minute to get used to it but it will fly. It increases the trackpoint to though so that may not be the result you want.

Control Panel -> Mouse Properties

I also have my mouse speed maxed.

If you uncheck the box next to 'Enhance Pointer Precision' it goes faster (or at least for me it does).

And I use the TrackPoint not TouchPad.

Ok... I guess the speed can't be adjusted for individual devices so I cranked it up in Mouse properties as you guys say. Just makes its harder to use an external mouse but I'm using the Trackpoint/Touchpad almost all the time anyway.

Oh, I found where to adjust scrolling speed, it's in TouchPad Properties under Virtual Scrolling -> Long Distance scrolling. Not the right section IMO but at least it's there.

You can also make the mouse pointer a little more zippy by going into Display Properties, Settings, Advanced, Monitor & increase the refresh rate. This should not have any effect with LCD's, but will increase the mouse movement.
