Question about Ultrabay devices, CDRW/DVD

I've gotten a hold of four Ultrabay enhanced CDRW/DVD drives. I planned to upgrade a 600x and a A21m with these drives but discovered a problem. I can install the plastic bracket onto the new drive, but the plugin connector is a different style so I cannot attach the socket part to the back of the new drive. What's the deal? I thought this would be a straight and easy upgrade.
For reference, the plain DVD drive in the A21M is part number 27L4087 and the CDRW/DVD drive that I want to install in its place is part number 40Y8945. They are the same form factor except for the plug on the back.

Well, the problem is the connectors on the back panel of both the CD and CDR/DVD are different so they do not seem to be interchangeable, yet both are IBM drives. I dont know what to do about this.

I think that the 600 and A21 might use different style caddy connectors. You can buy a caddy to swap out with online for a couple of bucks.

This guy shows how to do it in this eBay auction.
