which manufacturer of LCD is the best?

I broke the screen of my T41p, then I decide to buy a new SXGA and replace by myself.
But seems there isn't a lot of offers on eBay, although much more XGA deals... :?: :?: Are there any hidden places that I just didn't find?
Anyway, the cheapest deal I can find is for $269+shipping, I wonder if this is a fair price?
And another questions is, which manufacturer is the best?
Samsung? LG Philips? or something else?
Then I can ask the seller since he seems haveing several...
Thank you for your info!

I have no idea what a fair price is. However regarding quality or best manufacturer, they are all quite good. I believe it's largely a matter of personal opinion. Since I have a lot of ThinkPads I am fortunate to have experience with each of the different ones. The differences are not major, just minor characteristics such as color balance, brightness, and clarity. My personal favorite is LG, however all the rest suit me just fine.

Do you find an improvement overall in the screens from the earlier ones to the later ones (assuming same size and resolution)? In other words, in things such as clarity and brightness?

If so, is the improvement gradual, or does it improve suddenly with certain model introductions?

I have not noticed a huge difference from one year to the next. It seems that there is a very slight variation that may be nothing more than the difference from one production batch to the next. However the FlexView IPS technology introduced on the 15" T60 is a giant leap forward in viewing angle, corner to corner brightness and clarity. Colors are also very nice on this display. One does, however notice a decrease in battery life driving this new screen. For myself, it's more than worth it because I look at any model as a collection of compromises to achieve a final result that is an excellent new ThinkPad model.
