How do I best maintain my battery?

Hi all,

Since I'm new to the ThinkPad world, I need some advice about how to best maintain my battery (maximize lifespan). For the litium ion battery in my iBook, Apple recommends that approx. once a month I let the battery run all the way down until the computer shuts itself down, and then fully recharge, after which I should just use it as I use it, with out worrying about whether it is partially charged or not. Should I treat the L-ion battery in my T23 the same way? I looked through the maintenance manual, but didn't find anything about normal usage. Perhaps I am not looking hard enough?

Anyway, any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kent

Li-Ion batteries do not need to be deep discharged (and probably should not be on a regular basis), so just use the battery as you wish. I run on AC much of the time; I don't remove the battery; and I use the battery whenever I wish. 32 months later it is dying (duh! it is chemistry that gets used up after all), and it still good for nearly two hours. I have no complaints, and I make no attempt to manage the battery. ... JD Hurst

This link would provide sufficient information about taking care your laptop batteries, : http://www.batteryuniversity.com/.
However, please bear in mind that......the way shown in that link is to prolong the life of lithium ion batteries. Mine has been working fine and good health for 3 years already.
