Howto modify / customise the Restore Partiton / CDs ?

#1 Post by arion » Wed Aug 16, 2006 12:41 pm

Does anyone know how to modify / customise the hidden Restore Partiton or CDs ?

When restoring the ThinkPad I have to uninstall and update software that was just installed during the restore process. I really want to be able to stop installing some software and include the updated software in the restore image.

I know it can be done and the restore seems to work like this:

IBM Software and drivers are copied to the drive
Wiondows XP is installed
The post install section installs software and drivers
Then sysprep is run to make ready for new user

IBM has a package called ImageUltra Builder but I do not know exactly what it does.

Thanks.
