Battery.... OEM or third party?

#1 Post by TarzanBoy » Wed Aug 23, 2006 3:38 pm

I did searches but didn't find a repository summing up people's experiences with batteries (maybe cuz the forums got split up?)

Anyways... I have a T40 that seems to only run ~1.5-2 hours, so I am considering a battery replacement/upgrade.

Should I go to the batteries plus location by me or look elsewhere online? Where do you guys get your batteries and what kind of life should I except from a T40 (even my T22 gets 2 hours of life)

My T30 battery only gets about sixty minutes, so I assume it's a little "tired".
I think I'm going to get this IBM battery. Pretty good price for an IBM unit, I checked the vendor out at resellerratings.com, they look good. There's a T40 battery on the same page.
For my video cameras, I have always found the factory batteries work better than the aftermarket ones, so I'm going to stick with that approach with my Thinkpad.

Try bumping the brightness settings on the lcd down to the lowest.

That doubles the battery life in my T40... I just have to remember to do it EVERY TIME i turn the laptop on

why not set a profile in battery maximizer or power manager?
