PCMCIA USB 2.0 Card that doesn't block both slots?

I'll be shopping for a USB 2.0 and/or Firewire card for my "new" Thinkpad 570E.

Is there a known, reliable PCMCIA <-> USB 2.0 adapter card whose jacks allow enough clearance for a second PCMCIA card to peacefully co-exist? Am I asking too much?

I have a "chewing gum" (?) USB WiFi adapter. Can I plug it in the native USB jack at 1.1 speeds (good enuf for me) and expect the PCMCIA-USB/Firewire card to work simultaneously with external HD/DVD devices?

OS is XP Pro SP2.

All advice, caveats muchly appreciated.

I believe the following will fit the bill: IBM ThinkPad USB 2.0 CardBus Adapter.

I have a Apricorn USB 2.0 PCMCIA adapter at home that I bought online several months ago for about $25, IIRC. Intended for my daughter's backup system it's still sitting unopened. It uses a dongle (2 ports I think) so it fits your description. I believe it is this model:
