Need help identifying what dvd drive shipped with my z60m...

#1 Post by truthiness » Sat Sep 09, 2006 9:09 pm

Just trying to figure out what optical drive they shipped with my z60m... hardware profile shows GMA-4082N, which I notice has DVD RAM capability as well as dual layer capability. I was surprised to see this as any specs I looked at prior to purchase did not mention either functionality. The following info is on the drive itself:

39t2722 asm
23t2723 fru

I do not see these part numbers on the Lenovo site, but can get it close. Just wondering if this is one of the 'super' drives that are selling for over $200?

Is this a decent drive as far as you guys know?

EDIT: I see that this is an LG drive, and is running in the $75 dollar range on some pricegrabber sites... but what is the difference between the 'super' and the other ultrabay drives?

Thanks Bill.

But does that mean it's a 'super' designated drive in the Lenovo line as well?

I thought the 'super' drives in the Lenovo line were the DVD RAM capable ones? Am I mistaken?

Well, as it turns out it looks like it shipped with the top end drive, everywhere I look online, the drive is selling between $200 and $350.
