Question regarding integrated security chip...

#1 Post by truthiness » Thu Sep 14, 2006 7:42 am

I've had some issues once I activated my security chip in my z60m (2529-R3U). My notebook currently has 512Mb of RAM.

One issue was that when the unit was running on battery power and went into sleep mode during inactivity and then came out of inactivity, a message came up saying that the security chip 'had been cleared' or something like that and could not retrieve necessary security info. Rebooting seemed to fix that issue, but it was a bit disconcerting.

And generally since activating the security chip, I've had a few lockups that required rebooting, and some general lagginess overall. Especially with the Fingerprint reader; sometimes it seems like it is completely inactive not recognizing finger swipes.

Would upgrading to 1G of RAM solve these issues or is there a potential larger issue with the security chip that I should be troubleshooting? Can the security chip be deactivated?

and regarding the fingerprint reader... I thought a window was supposed to pop up on password capable sites that I have entered. This is not happening and I have to right click on the tray icon and click 'recall' in order to activate the swipe window? It'd be quicker to enter the password!! I must be missing something.

Thanks!

Security chip should have nothing to do with your slowdown...but are you running the current version of CSS? And Rescue and Recovery?

Update those two first....
