I was wondering if any one knew how possible it would be to install a 128 MB ATI Radeon graphics card in a Thinkpad z61t. The z61t has integrated graphics, so would there be a slot for this installation, or would it not even have a slot available. I tried searching for this, but I didn't find the answer I was looking for.

I believe the Z61T has a pci-e graphic interface. As far as i know, they are theoreticaly swappable.
I did swap the Ati X1400 pci-e card in my Inspiron 9400 for the faster 7900GS card without a problem.

However, the x1400->7900gs upgrade is by default available when you configurate the Inspiron9400. With the Z61t, there isn't a graphiccard upgrade by default available, so i really won't know if it's possible.

When it is, i would certanly try it! The only thing the Z61t misses in my opinion is a good graphic card (OpenGL for Novell XGL ;) )

A little clarification, you *cannot* swap the GPUs on the Z Series Thinkpads. They are soldered to the board. This is the case for many Thinkpads, especially with the ATI cards.

You can, however, get a dock and add anohter video card for powering more large monitors and so on. This can help in many tasks.
