I dutifully did a search but didn't find anything addressing my problem.

I've created a new power 'scheme' in BM ("Deluxe Power Saver"), but every time I select it (or reboot, or resume from hibernate) it kicks back to the factory "Super Power Saver". My "Deluxe Power Saver" is still in the list of options, but "Super Power Saver" is selected. How can I make BM use my profile?!

That is a registry issue, I am afraid. There are posts here that have dealt with it, but in a very roundabout way; no wonder they didn't show up clearly on a search.

You have to uninstall the power manager, backup the registry and do a cleanup, reboot and then reinstall the power manager. If that doesn't work, then you will have to manually remove the registry hive keys that *both* the Power Manager and the Windows power management system use to save mobile/stationary power profiles (NHC also links to these profiles and can, at times, mess them up). They have a numbering sequence, however, that you can use to tell apart which ones were created by the Power Manager and which were created by Windows.

First, see if that works.

Well, I tried the 'uninstall/registry clean/reboot/reinstall' regimen. It still doesn't work. Any chance you could refer me to the 'registry tweaking' threads?

Hmmmm . . . I'm not quite ready to despair, but it is getting late and I still haven't figured this out!

I tried following hupsing's advice here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=9857. Unfortunately, that left me with a Battery Maximiser with NO schemes . . . And yes, I did leave schemes 1 through 6 in each registry location. I then tried following GomJabbar's advice (above) and ended up with the "Presentation" scheme, but nothing else I've tried restoring the registry I backed up before beginning this whole thing, and even THAT doesn't work I guess I fail to understand why uninstalling/reinstalling BM doesn't do the trick. But I guess that's why I'm not a computer programmer--I could never design something this frustrating (and before all the resident programmers get TOO worked up, I will say that I couldn't design ANYTHING to do with computer code; it's just that sometimes it seems unneccessarily complex . . . and like I said, it's getting late and I'm getting frustrated . . . sigh) Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. You have to get rid of all the duplicate sets of "1XX" profiles except for one. Otherwise, I don't see how you could end up with just the presentation profile as even the Power Manager installs about 6 of them by default; so you would have had to inadvertantly delete some of them.

Don't feel too bad Paul Unger. I was much in your same situation some months back. I tried to repair my T42 with System Restore, but for some reason the System Restore service would not start. After much mucking around, I finally bit-the-bullet and used my Product Recovery Discs to reinstall from scratch.

What had started out as a failure to enter Standby, escalated to me losing my power profiles, and finding out that System Restore didn't work either. The fresh install fixed everything. No more problems of that sort to date.

There is an easy way to fix that, Gom; modify the registry....by hand....again.
