Access Connections Multiple SSID Profile

#1 Post by dstraus » Wed Oct 04, 2006 4:19 pm

The place I am currently at has multiple access points all with different SSIDs, but all on the same network. Is there any way to make one AC profile that contains all the SSIDs and will roam to whichever has the best signal, rather than creating multiple profiles and manually switching them?

I don't see a way with AC 4.12 (or prior versions I have used) to have multiple SSID's in the same profile. ... JD Hurst

You can create a profile without specify a SSID/Network name for wireless networks without security. Then it will connect to any SSID, but not sure how well it works since i never used it. If you use a WEP or any other kind of security that won't work.

This won't make AC roam between different SSID's though. Only connect to the first one found. I never seen a client that is able to roam between different SSID's. I cannot imagine how that would be possible considering how roaming works since that would be connecting to a new wireless network and not roaming.

I guess it would be possible to create a client that could do what you ask, but then will have to disconnect and connect to a new SSID and do the whole prosess with renew of IP and stuff like that. That's actually not roaming and would be pretty useless i think.
