Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 and 9 - Breaks WiFi Power Mgmt.

#1 Post by Conmee » Thu Oct 05, 2006 5:04 pm

Folks,

Has anyone run into this on their T60's or T40's? I was building a new image with WinXP SP2 retail, loaded all the ThinkVantage applets, etc, and MSFT updates. I install Roxio EMC 9 and now when I press FN+F5 it no longer lists my WiFi (Intel 3945abg) adapter and tells me it can't control the power for it. I uninstall/reinstall the WiFi drivers, but no luck. And Access Connections no longer connects via wireless because it can't control the WiFi adapter anymore. However, Windows can still control the adapter, and if I choose to have Windows manage the configuration, I can connect just fine with WiFi. And last but not least, when I go in to re-create an Access Connections profile, it lists the WiFi but says it is 100.0MBps instead of 54MBps. ?!?!?!

Both Roxio EMC 8 and 9 exhibit the same "problem." I searched the Roxio support and a quick search here and found nothing on the topic.

Short of installing Nero, any ideas? Anyone? lol

Daniel.

EMC9 non only breaks wifi, it screws up everything in Vista, particularly Windows Media Player, and produces errors. It's a nightmare software, even though it's supposed to be Vista compatible.
BS! The people at Roxio need to get their act together.
