cssauth.exe cannot start because of an initialization error

#1 Post by mikealevy » Tue Oct 10, 2006 9:31 am

Sometimes when I boot up my X60S Thinkpad, I get an error message: "Client Security Solution: This instance of cssauth.exe cannot start because of an initialization error."

I'm guessing it might have something to do with firewall rules in Norton Internet Security 2006 that I also have running. Anybody know what I need to do to fix this?

The likely culprit could be the Thinkvantage Client Security Solutions program, which also has the Secure Drive and Password Manager as components.
Unless you are using any of them, the program can be uninstalled via Add/Remove in control panel. Also you could try looking for cssauth.exe or any reference to css in Startup via msconfig and uncheck it
