<Solved>My 2.5" hard drive enclosure does not fit

#1 Post by gustafson » Wed Oct 18, 2006 12:17 pm

I got an old 60G hard drive from my friend,
this hard drive belongs to his broken Toshiba A65 s-126 laptop,
I looked up some websites, they all confirmed Toshiba A65 S-126 is using the normal 2.5" hard drive. So I got a 2.5" hard drive enclosure
from ebay, but I found out it did not fit that hard drive. Does anybody know what's wrong with it?

Well, you might start by posting the

MODEL NUMBER AND BRAND OF THE HARD DRIVE

MODEL NUMBER AND BRAND OF THE ENCLOSURE

The only two things I can think of, is that either you still have the hard drive (from the laptop) inside some sort of caddy,

or it's an older hard drive that is too thick for the enclosure. Not all 2.5 drives are the same thickness. If my memory is correct, there are at least three over the years.

Yep, there are 12mm height drives and 9.5mm height drives. You probably are trying to put a 12mm drive into a 9mm enclosure.

Thanks you guys,
I solved this problem after dinner,
I made a mistake, I pluged it in with a wrong direction.
Stupid problem solved, thanks for all the input.
