NEW access connections issues!! (4.21, released 10/24/06)

I just tried to upgrade my wireless card and it did the usual break FN+F5 / access connections thing. So, I did all of the uninstall/reinstall stuff (removed Access Connections and PROset and got FN+F5 and my wireless access back). I then went to download Access Connections and I noticed version 4.12 has been replaced by 4.21! So I installed this version I now get a FAILURE when "Applying Wireless Settings"
I double clicked the wireless icon and noticed there is no bogus MAC address for my wireless card which is what usually happens when FN+F5 breaks. I can search for Wireless Networks just fine using the Find utility in Access Connections and I can use FN+F5 just fine. I simply cannot change profiles to a wireless connections because "Applying Wireless Settings" fails. If anyone has noticed any behavior like this before and has found a solution for it, please let me know! Thanks a lot.

Strange, using 4.21 with no problems, including the Fn+F5 thing. Why don't you try to remove the Intel Application via Control Panel, reboot, and then install it again. If not, remove it in Safe Mode, then install the software again.
Hope this helps.

Fixed it. It wasn't an issue at all actually. The whole time Access Connections was working just fine, but for some reason the Profile I tried to connect to was corrupted in the upgrade. After many hours of reinstalling/installing I realized this and simply remade the profile and it worked fine. Thanks for the help.

I have Access Connections 4.21 running smoothly as of today. 4.12 was running smoothly as well, so at this point, all is well.
However, when I went to the AC page (and not most other downloads), it wants to install AcpIR.cab as an active X control. I did not. I cannot find enough information from Google to determine what it is or does; and why it is just popping up now?

I'm fairly sure that AcpIR.cab is the ActiveX control that enables the active content on the IBM/Lenovo web sites. I had it the other day and decided to take a punt.

I just installed it and its broken my Fingerprint software and CSS. On logon FP prompt does not come up and then once logged in, CSS says tvt_banner.dll is missing and it needs to be reinstalled.
Anyone else seen this?

No doubt more unnecessary software since the page still loads fine in firefox without the ActiveX stuff.
None of my Fingerprint stuff was broken either after the install. (Using CSS 7 and FS 5.5)

The page loads fine (I did not install the control), but all of a sudden page writers (Lenovo, Information Week and others) think we want their stuff installed on our computers. They are pretty clueless. ... JD Hurst

I've just installed the latest 4.21 acc-con and I find the performance and stability much improved. Excellent.
