Hello,

I'm wondering if an Ultrabay drive/USB adapter exists ?
I have a 2nd hard drive in my TP and I need sometimes to plug my combo drive, but I'm too lazy to unplug my 2nd HDD...

thx for your help.

PS : I have a TP T40p

I've got a Portable Device Bay 2000, an external enclosure for Ultraslimbay devices, and it connects using either the pc card slot of the USB port. This should do what the OP wanted. I picked mine up via eBay or about 20 bucks.

Hi,

There are two versions of Portable Drive Bays:

- Original Portable Drive Bay (FRU# 37L1513) that accepts UltraslimBay devices (Thinkpad 600 series) (not to be confused with UltraBay Slim (T40 and laters)). connects via PCMCIA 16-bit only

- Portable Drive Bay 2000 (FRU# 19K4499) that accepts some Ultrabay 2000 devices. Connects via PCMCIA 16-bit or USB 1.1.

None of them directly accepts UltraBay Slim devices from T4x. Also the bus speed (either PCMCIA 16-bit or USB 1.1) is not up to today's standard.

I tried to find a Cardbus 32-bit version of the connector for PDB 2000 (there is a cardbus driver built-in Windows XP which made me think there is a such thing). No luck yet.

Thanks,
Val
