IE7 Question
IE7 Question
Hey all got a quick question my internet browser I believe has a setting on it that makes you click on a set of links to actually click on the link itself. When I hover the first part of the link it says click to activate. Is there a way to turn this off so that when I click on the link it just clicks on the link that I want? Let me know if this isn't the right description. Thanks guys
Although I have yet to convert to IE7, the behavior you describe is related to the activation of either an ActiveX control or a Java applet, I believe.
If so, then this behavior is likely by design, as I recall this was part of a lawsuit settlement between Microsoft and Sun related to Sun's version of Java within the past year.
The details are a bit cloudy to me at the moment, but this "extra click" is something that has been present since the early part of this year, when a Windows Update made this change permanent on Windows XP with respect to activation of certain controls used on Web sites.
Perhaps one of the other enlightened board members (Christopher Wolf, JDHurst?) can elaborate or clarify?
I am not aware of a workaround or fix for this (irritating) behavior.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. I quickly disabled the phishing filter in IE7 and also most of the settings around Tabs (except to retain the ability to use them). At this point, my IE 7 is working very much like IE 6, and I do not experience the issue you are describing (at least I don't think I am). ... JD Hurst

I believe he is referring to the small pop-up dialogue (similar to a Tool Tip) that appears when your mouse hovers over, for example, an embedded video on a Web site. You have to click at least once on the blank video screen so that you are able to use any available controls associated with that video (play/pause, stop, etc.)
Otherwise, I am also a bit puzzled about the behavior he is describing that pertains to two separate clicks on a link in order to access a Web site or other material.

Ironically, that's exactly what the FlashBlock extension for Firefox does -- it prevents Flash from running automatically, you need to click on it before it'll run. Very cool!USSS wrote:I believe he is referring to the small pop-up dialogue (similar to a Tool Tip) that appears when your mouse hovers over, for example, an embedded video on a Web site. All it is, is the only way to click on a some links you must activate it first. I am just seeing if their is any way to disable the activating part just because it is a little annoying at some times. Sorry for any misunderstanding and I hope somebody may no the solution if there is one. Thanks for all your comments guys!
