All memory modules should come with a label attached saying who the module manufacturer was and a part number. Note that the module maker can be different than the individual memory components used on the module. Furthermore, there is a memory chip on the module which
can store manufacturer information such as part number, date of assembly, serial number, etc. This information is referred to as SPD (serial presence detect). I believe that the utility
CPU-Z can read this information from
some systems/modules. (Note: it does not work on my T23s.)

I use CPU-Z and in my T22 it shows a lot of into about Memory but not the manufacturer or part #; shows what you have in each slot by size and speed, clocks, etc. I also checked Belarc Advisor and even though it shows serial # for my HDD it only shows the size for the RAM.

Most manufacturers will store their names, part and serial numbers in the appropriate locations in the SPD memory, but I don't think it is a requirement (haven't checked the JEDEC rules on this). It appears to me that utilities like CPU-Z may or may not read that information depending upon the chipset being used. For the T23 I'm using at the moment, CPU-Z's Memory tab only reports the total size and nothing else. The SPD tab shows that both slots are occupied with 512MB modules but no other information is available. I am using version 1.36 (current version is 1.38 ), which I think should support the hardware inside the T23 so I don't know what's wrong.
