I have been looking into doing some upgrades to do for my T30.

Would an Upgrade to a 400mhz fsb 478 pin dothan be better than a 2.4 ghz P4 cpu?

I have a 1.8 ghz now and the Dothan would be about the same in mhz but the Dothan would have the newer core and more cache.

What are the thoughs on performance of the Dothan?

say a 1.8ghz dothan with 2meg cache
vs
2.4 ghz p4 with 512k

the dothan would generate less heat also hhmmm

let me know what you think

Plz someone corect me if I'm mistaken, but I think the T30 motherboards can't use Pentium M processors. It would be great if it could be done, but I'm not sure.

and for sure, a Pentium M 1.8GHz generates much more less heat than a P4 1.6Ghz in instance for my old T30

You're correct. Thinkpads with Pentium 4-M chips cannot use any Pentium-M, whether it is Banias or Dothan. Both CPUs use the same bus but their pin configurations are very different.

No, if no pentium m's work and the T30s can only use Pentium 4-Ms then that is all they can use.
