hello, i have a thinkpad z60t and i want to reformat it and then reinstall windows. however i've really gotten used to the thinkpad utilities such as the thinkvantage suite and the fingerprint feature + the other shortcuts keys etc.

so my question is after i reformat the hd how can i get all those previous thinkpad features back? or even better are those features on another partition or something so i dont even have to go through the pains of setting them up again?

thanks in advance!

Are you reinstalling from the Recovery discs or from your own Windows CD? If it's the former, then all utilities will be automatically installed because the recovery process puts all factory-installed software back on the hard drive. If you're using your own Windows CD, after finishing the installation, get Software Installer from Lenovo.com, which will help you download and install the Thinkpad utilities.

Oh, BTW, before wiping your hard drive clean, you should burn a set of Rescue and Recovery discs even if you are going to use your own Windows CD. These recovery discs cost $45 if you buy them from Lenovo.

I assume this is all you need for that, and Software Installer should be able to get that for you automatically.
