Hello, I'm trying to burn a bootable CD ISO image onto a mini-DVD, but even so I can get the data burned, I fail to get the DVD to boot afterwards.

Trying to put together a pocket rescue CD here and it won't fit onto a standard mini-CD (as a standard CD won't fit into my pocket :-).

I know I meesed up somewhere along the lone, but is there any simple tool that I could use to transform a bootable CD ISO image into a bootable DVD ISO?

What is the program you're using?

There is a boot sector thing that needs to be put first on the target media to make the image/disc bootable. Most programs give you an option to make the image bootable, or 1) extract that boot thing from a bootable image, 2) save it on your hard drive, 3) then select and put that boot thing for the image/disc you're creating.

Are you sure about that, most isos that are meant to be booted include the necessary boot files in the iso? As long as you burnt it as an image and didnt just burn the iso file onto the disc you should be ok. Also, I suppose its possible your cd drive isnt set as your primary boot device. You can change that in the bios or just hold down a key (c or d, i dont remember which) to have your pc boot from the disc.

Is this something you are creating or are you using a premade ISO? I believe cd ISO's won't boot when put on a DVD. Bootable DVD's require different boot files.
A DVD is not just a big CD, it is different. Try putting your ISO on a full size cd and see if it will boot.

well only way to find answer is just try. You can always use a regular dvd to test it out.

I only know that difference with cd and dvd is its capacity and if the image is less than 700mb I burn in cd and if its 700mb more I burn using a dvd. This does apply to burning a ps2 but I just never try to burn in a less than 700mb image to a dvd.

how to burn it I guess use nero.

FWIW, when I tried burning a bootable slipstreamed XP CD, I also ran into problems. Although Sonic RecordNow! had a choice to make the CD bootable, the CD would not boot. IIRC, I also tried Easy CD Creator without success. Nero version 4 was successful. So the burning program certainly can make a difference in producing a successful outcome.

That is an ISO I just ripped from a bootable CD, so I recon it is because I'm missing some files here for a DVD boot.
I don't have Nero, is there a freeware tool that I could use instead?
