Intel 3945 wifi problem...

I'm having a problem with my Wifi card and wanted to find out if anyone has had a similar problem.
I've got an Intel 3945ABG network card in a Lenovo T60 Thinkpad laptop. This is a brand new laptop and
all my drivers are up to date and working fine.
Here's the problem: It does not detect any WiFi networks. None. EVER!
I have two other laptops that detect my wifi network and a neighbor's wifi network, but the
T60 doesn't find either.
I have reinstalled the driver a couple of times. I've downloaded
the driver from the lenovo support site AND Intel's web site. Same result with both.
I've used the Microsoft Wireless Network Connection software to try to detect networks, nothing.
I've used Intel's PROSet/Wireless software to manage my WiFi, that didn't work either.
And of course I've used the ThinkVantage software for WiFi, still nothing.
The Wifi "activation" light that looks like a radio-tower under the screen IS on!
XP "sees" the wifi hardware...it's listed in the Device Manager with no problems.
Since this is a new laptop I'm wondering if I have a bad WiFi card.
Before I start the whole process of getting a new card and all that mess,
I wanted to find out if anyone here has had any problems getting their WiFi to work or if anyone has any ideas in general.
Thanks!!
Steve
