Lenovo System update

#1 Post by milkster » Thu Jan 11, 2007 9:34 pm

I'm having some problems with System update on my T43 (2668-72U) machine. When i start System Update, it comes up fine and then i just hit the next button on the bottom right. It does its thing for about 30sec and then a window pops up and says "System Update is being updated. Please wait while System Update restarts." and all i can click on is "OK". When i click ok, the program closes and nothing happens..... So, basically i can't update anything because the Update program won't update itself. Has anyone seen this before and how i can fix it?

I have the exact same problem. Click ok, and it just closes. T42 (2373-3VU)

How have folks been doing running this on older models?

I'm going to be upgrading my 600 to XP after I get my processor upgrade done, and was thinking about doing this so I didn't have to do all the downloading of individual components.

I'm curious if anyone has tried the new version and if so, how do you like it?

Any problems so far?
I'm still trying to get the wireless led on my t40 working, so I'm thinking I might try a reinstall of XP tonight and use System Update 3.0 to install drivers.

Installed System Update 3.0 on my T30 yesterday.

Seems to work as well/badly as 2.0.

Only problem is that it reports I am missing two optional updates (WinDVD and Sonic DLA) when I know I'm not. This problem existed in the previous release.

My Software Installer still shows "Thinkvantage System Update 2.00" as the latest. I guess I'll just wait until it shows version 3, and then I'll install it.

I guess "Lenovo System Update" is the new name for "Thinkvantage System Update". Is that correct?

Also, will I need to uninstall SWI after installing LSU, since they basically do the same thing. Will LSU use the same database that SWI uses to keep track downloaded/installed drivers and softwares? I hope they don't screw up each other's functionality.

Eventually, but there is no definitive date for that to happen. Some of the ThinkPad Vista component installations are using the SI code, so its certainly not dead yet!

Cheers,

Sweet, my X31 is not listed among the Supported systems.

I feel so left out.
