What's this 1234-ABC stuff exactly?

ok, I have a 560E (well I have it, but don't use it).
I also have a T40 (2374-7CG) and a T60P (2613-CTO)
so... what the he.. does this 7CG or CTO mean?
Anyone?

It designates the sub-models. For instance, all the 380 Series were 2635s, the one I have coming is a 2635-FAU. All the Exx and Fxx were PIIs, but the Fxx were PII/266 were as the Exx were PII/233.
On some long-running models like the T20s, even the 1st four digits change to reflect a relatively major change that you probably wouldn't see on the outside of the machine.

CTO stands for "Configure to Order". Another term for custom built.

Oh, and is there something in it that tells one in which country the TP has been bought? I know the serial does...right?

The only way that I can think of is to go to
Parts Lookup, enter type and serial number, click Continue, then on the next page click on Warranty status.

So guess mine...2686 M4U, would mean 2686 "Made For You". hmmm, makes a lot of sense.
