i've configured my T60 with the fingerprint software, i have also set bios/hdd passwords.

for arguements sake, my bios password is 123 and my windows login is 456. i enrolled my fingers in the program and set it so it replaces the bios/windows password prompts.

so to test, i power off and on again, swipe my finger across the reader but then it prompts me to put the boot password (123) in before it lets me get any further.

is that a bug or "feature"?

also when im docked (using a kvm), if i press "esc" to bypass biometric login, i see the post screen and it just beeeeeeeeeeeeeps continiously and i have to power off. anyone else get the same?

Sounds like you still need to enter the bios, select the security area, and set the individual Hard Drive and Power On passwords.

Just never forget the bios supervisor password or HD password.....These can not be reset.

The power on password can if forgot.

As for the KVM thing.... is the screen open or closed? You may need to add the Lenovo external USB FPR to support that.

It's supposed to ask you for the boot password the first time you use your fingerprint. Once you've successfully logged in this way once, subsequent times the fingerprint alone should be sufficient.

I think the technical reason for this behaviour is that the HDD password is actually stored on the disk, and the fingerprint reader therefore needs to memorize the password the first time around.

If you're still being asked for the password each time, even after successfully using fingerprint followed by password one time, then something is wrong. Maybe you could check by only using power on password or only using HDD password, to see if only one of them is causing trouble. Do you have a supervisor password set? Several of the thinkpad security functions change their behaviour depending on whether or not supervisor password is set.
