Any way to emulate unsupported video resolutions? Windowed?

I currently have a 19" widescreen as an extended desktop with my T23. I have the T at 1024x768 and the monitor as 1600x1200 but stretched to fill the widescreen. It usually doesn't pose much problem, but it is annoying. Thankfully, VLC Media Player lets me fix videos so they aren't distorted.
However, the monitor is made for 1400x900. That's less total resolution than 1600x1200 so I imagine the graphics card (S3 Super Savage) *could* produce it somehow.
Is there any program to get another resolution going on the thing? Or maybe display Firefox at the very least in a wide screen resolution? (Widescreen stuff on 1600x1200 stretched back to widescreen by the monitor corrects it.)
I use UltraMon for most my utilities and it lets me choose resolutions but nothing WS. Surely there's a fix...I hope..
Thanks!
