How to block Fn+F12 (Hibernation)

I wanna restrict access to this function under WinXP. I searched the database, but didnt find an answer.

Is there a way to get this work:
- by using an internal Thinkpad function (the keyboard utility can only restrict this on an external keyboard)?
- by using an Windows function (user access rights, or kinda similar)?
- with a trick, e.g. restricting access to the hiberfil.sys?
- with 3rd party software?

I appreciate any comment.

Using Windows XP, go to Power Options, Hibernate, uncheck Enable Hibernate - now you won't get that option when you click on Shut Down Computer or use F12

Thanks for the fast response.

I forgot to mention, that this is the point where I stuck. Although I removed the checkmark (as correctly described by you) Fn +F12 will send the thinkpad into hibernation. After the next wake up from Hiber, the checkbox is set again.

Strange, isn't it?

Hang in there, I guarantee you someone will come along that knows way more than I, and will have perhaps a more definite answer.

Check your BIOS settings. I seem to remember there's an option under Config/Power on my T23 that can enable/disable hibernation, although I can't remember if it's only for when the system is docked. I'd try it with the one I'm using now, but I'm using it now :) .

Unfortunately, neither disabling hibernation via the BIOS nor the Power Settings checkmark thing do the trick. When you press Fn+F12, T23 hibernates nevertheless. I suspect it is hardcoded into the hardware, those Fn+F key combinations, as I can, for example, reduce brightness or sound level while the machine is booting up to Win XP...
