WWAN built-in cards and EVDO Rev A and other EVDOs

#1 Post by supportsquakmt » Sat Feb 24, 2007 12:53 am

Thinkpads that support WWAN are currently (Feb '07) shipping with the Sierra Wireless MC5720 cards. These cards support only EVDO rev 0.

Sierra Wireless has a variety of cards that fit into the same slot.
See: http://www.sierrawireless.com/product/e ... rison.aspx

One of these, the MC5725, would support EVDO rev A. in North America and Asia Pacific.

Questions:
Can the other cards be used in Thinkpads ?
Would the machine boot ok, or get an 1802 or something similar ?

For sure !

All I need is for someone to send me am MC5725 to test with. :D
I'll even send it back when I'm finished.
I can't find one of these cards on the open market.

It will probably cost me 2 account switchover fees to do the testing and switch it back to my regular card.
