Can't find the "Battery Maintenance" button

#1 Post by butchhandy » Fri Mar 16, 2007 2:35 pm

Sorry if this has been covered, but I spent 15 minutes searching for an answer and couldn't find one here....So....

I have a T41 that is running Vista Business.

It is running version 2.01 of Power Manager.

I *believe* (based on the IBM System Update software) that I am running the most current versions of all IBM utilities/software that is available under Vista. If there is something newer out there, the System Update software isn't telling me about it yet.

When I open Power Manager, and open the Battery Information tab, I don't have a "Battery Maintenance" button available.

I need/want to set my system to better handle the charging of my laptop, since it stays plugged in to external power 95% of the time.

Does anyone know why this button doesn't show up? My guess is going to be some crap with Vista, but I want to see if others are having the same issue or not.

If there is no way to get the button to show up, then is there a way to "manually" set the system to the settings I want?

Thanks!
Butch

Its not a supported Power Manager service for any model below a T43.

Thanks Bill!

The help/instructions with Power Manager doesn't tell me that of course, and instead actually tells me that I should use it to condition my battery. A lot of good it does for IBM to suggest to me to use something that won't even exist on my model.

Later!

That is because all of these models use the same program. They tried to make it more efficient by using the same program across the board.

Power Manager for Windows XP and 2000 was only designed to work on T43 vintage and later model ThinkPads. It is reported to work with earlier models, however it is not fully supported. When running Windows XP, 2000, NT 4.0, or 98, the models previous to the T43 are supposed to use Battery MaxiMiser. My T42 uses Battery MaxiMiser version 1.38. Battery Health (equivalent of Battery Maintenance I believe) does work on on a T42, but not on earlier models such as the T41. The version of Power Manager for Vista (2.01) is different than the Version for previous versions of Windows (1.14).
