max ram for a thinkpad 240 and bios version

hi
what is the latest bios version for this laptop
is anyone running XP on one of these ?
and if so are there any isses ? patches or fixes i ned to know about ?
what is the max ram ?
specs are :
CPU Speed: 300 GHz
Memory: 192 MB

Hard drive: 19 GB

Didn't you ask the same questions just a few days ago?
Max RAM = 320MB
WinXP Pro works fine on this machine
Latest BIOS = IRET77WW (1.18 )

I was able to get a 256 megs RAM module working in my 240.
This is not for the faint-hearted though. I clipped the legs off one of the RAM chips for the onboard RAM. Having one chip removed disables all of it. At that point, a 256-meg module inserted was recognized and all 256 megs was available.
Sorry I would give part numbers for the RAM but I have since sold it.

Only the 240X requires such a procedure. The 240 can take a 256MB without any modification, to give a total of 320MB including the 64MB onboard.
The part number for the 256MB PC100 module is 33L3069 or 33L3070.

Low-density 256MB PC100. Look for part number 33L3069 or 33L3070. I think this is the third time I've given you this information!

You need to remove the keyboard. Download the
Hardware Maintenance Manual for instructions.

ok
just put in a 80 gig 5400 rpm drive
split into 4 x 20 gig partitions loaded a clean install of XP pro and from a cold boot it takes 4 minutes to load fully
i have updated the bios and made sure the HDD is first in the boot sequence
can anyone tell me if this it all i can expect from this laptop or is there any way i can speed up the boot ??

Yes, that's pretty much the best it can do with a 5400rpm HDD, even with 320MB of memory. That's why I have been urging people to get a 500MHz PIII 240X instead because it's quite a bit snappier. But since you are now stuck with this 300MHz Celeron machine, the best thing you can do is use hibernation. If you want to keep booting normally, trying turning off as many startup tasks as possible.
