Monitor very dim.

#1 Post by rs » Sun Mar 18, 2007 12:12 pm

Hi

I have a curious problem with my Thinkpad R40. The monitor seems to become very faint at certain angles. If I move it around a little bit sometimes it fixes the problem - but right now, for example, the monitor is making an angle of around 70 degrees, so its a little difficult to read.

Does anyone know how to fix this. I suspect its a loose contact but am a little wary of just trying to open it up to see. Any ideas ?

Regards

Ramesh

It sounds like the CCFL (backlight) might be going out.

Hi

The problem continues, but I think the main issue is some sort of loose contact - as it sometimes rectifies itself if I move the screen around or give it a slight bump. How easy is it to change/fool around with the connections. Any ideas ?

Ramesh
