Access denied trying to open My Docs on external HD

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Fri Mar 23, 2007 5:24 pm

Simple setup, should work like it always has, but it's not.

I have a usb external 2.5 drive, cloned from my ThinkPad. I frequently use it with my desktop to transfer files. However, it won't let me into my My Documents folder. I can get into another users My Docs, but not mine...

I booted the TP with it and made sure there was no Windows password, and all accounts were set to Admin (previously one was limited, so I thought that was the reason I couldn't access).

Now everything seems set but that [censored] folder won't open...Any idea what I'm missing? And why this would happen all of the sudden?

I should know how to do this one way or another, as I've taken three COMP courses...online classes apparently don't pay off. :)

Thanks y'all!

How about this?

Techspot article

It seems to detail an Access Denied error message solution. Is this what you are getting?

Thanks for the links Ray...I disappear on the weekends sometimes. Hopefully I can get this working.

edit: (5 minutes later) [censored], that was easy. I wonder why it wouldn't just work to begin with, if all I had to do was click OK in a permissions box and apply to the entire HD...

THANKS RAY!
