Toshiba 40GB MK4025GAS --4200rpm
IBM Hitachi 9.5mm 60GB ----4200rpm

Besides one is 40gig and one is 60gig.What has the better name...

IMHO, I'd vote Hitachi, but I'd be hard pressed to use any drove of less than 5400rpm these days unless I absolutely had to.

I believe I had the MK4025GAS in my first laptop. It was pretty noisy :)

Thanks for the replys.
I also have a few older Toshibas here that are tost.
But i can get the 40gig for $40.00 cdn and the 60gig for $50.00 cdn.
I'm thinking if i cant get a 5400rpm drive i may just go for the 60gig and try to get it cheaper.

The Seagate Momentus series are very good. 5400 RPM, quiet & reliable. Size up to 160Gb.

Would not buy a 4200rpm drive anymore. 5400 is much faster and doesn't cost much more.
