Memory purchase question

I'm considering adding an extra 1G memory
I know my T60 uses Kingston PC2-5300, but what puzzles me is that Kingston has a generic type which costs $75, and a Lenovo system-specific type which costs $136!

Kingston claims that "
Kingston system-specific memory is designed, manufactured and tested to the specifications of each brand name computer system. The design is fine-tuned to match the timing of the system, reduce noise and heat, and allow for the most efficient communication between the memory and the CPU. "

but do these dubious advantages really justify an extra $50+ cost ?

I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

The Newegg-cheapie is:
KVR667D2S5/1G -
Description: 1GB 667MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL5 SODIMM
Detailed Specifications: Standard 128M X 64 Non-ECC 667MHz 200-pin Unbuffered SODIMM (SDRAM-DDR2, 1.8V, CL5)

The TP part is KTL-TP667/1G, unfortunately no specs.

Looks like the first is of the ValueRam type, whereas the TP-version has been selected for better performance, and thus more complying with your laptop requirements.
You may get lucky with a VR-type, but I'd rather get a better quality.

Thanks.
In newegg's webpages, the two memory types have same specifications
I've done some search and it seems it's just system-specific memory has been tested with the specific system
I figure out that as long as there's a 50%+ chance that a valueram will work, I'll save money, as 75+(122-return cost)*50% < 122
