Oil the processor fan?

Hi,

Does one need to oil their CPU fan at all? Or are the fans used in Thinkpads of high quality, sealed, such that the bearings never need oiling?

I just figured, they are exposed to heat a lot. Then again, i assume the fan bearing is a ball, which should last quite a while?

Is it best not to mess with it if it works OK?

Thanks

There is no need to oil the fan. It should last the life of the machine except in rare circumstances. ... JDH

Thanks. I guess I'm just thinking back to the countless video card fans that i've seen die over the years. Then again those have been notorious sleeve bearings, and usually exposed to a great deal of heat. Substantially more than a P3 M would output I would imagine, and usually located right above the GPU, where as the CPU fan is offset to the side.

With this in mind, I will leave it.
