Help, I just screwed up big time!

Ok, here's the deal. I have a new T-60 with a fingerprint reader. I have set my admin. password and everything has been working fine. I have been logging on by using my fingerprint only.

I tried to change my password to a generic one to give the IT guy at my office so he can set up the VPN and the needed server connections .

I did the ctrl-alt-delete as instructed to make the change. I typed in my old password and instead of hitting "Tab" to drop down to "Type New Password", I hit the enter key. At that point the screen said I had changed my password before I even entered my new password. I have restarted several times, then scaned my fingerprints, which now it won't accept. Now it ask for my password, which it will not take.

Earlier today I updated some security downloads from Lenovo. One of them had to do with the BIOS. The update did not mention a change in the BIOS, just an update.

I was hoping it was my number lock was off and not allowing me to enter the proper password. I'm not sure if I just need to hit the lock key to change it, or do I need to hit another key along with it to make the change.

I'm going through High Anxiety right now and looking for any assistance. Lenovo password manager say they will not reset the passwords, and may need to replace the HD.
Am I screwed?

Have you tried empty password?

This may sound rather silly, but have you tried typing nothing as the password? That is, when it asks you for the password, have you tried just leaving it blank and pressing enter?

No, leave the text box blank; just hit "enter".

Sorry, Sugo! I mustn't have, either!
