Acronis TrueImage Did NOT Clone Hidden Partition!

Using Acronis TrueImage 10 Home I just cloned a 40 GB HD to a new HITACHI 7K100 100 GB HD on my X31 and all went well and am very happy with the new drive. Acronis TrueImage worked well but the Hidden Partition was not copied and I no longer see the F11 option when booting.

Do I and/or should I care? I've never reloaded my system using the files on the hidden partition but I did like knowing it was there if it was ever needed.

I guess I can clone the 40 GB HD again but I did not see a option in Acronis TrueImage to include the hidden partition. What's the trick?

Is there a way to get it back or should I just forget about it and enjoy my new larger, faster, quieter drive?

Ditto. I hate the IBM pre-installs. Ever recover one off CD or the hidden partition? VERY SLOW!

Get an XP Pro SP2 OEM CD, install with the key off the bottom of the laptop. Run the IBM software installer to add in drivers and OSD stuff you will have a much better setup.

If you want a hidden partition to run backups to, Acronis can do that and I think it does a better quicker job.

I like the idea of the recovery CD's mainly if I want to Ebay the unit I can restore it to "factory" which makes it more marketable.

philly there is no trick every time I have cloned an ibm drive with HPA using acronis 9 it has cloned the entire drive perfectly (t30 and above except t40) and the machine is able to boot into the HPA with no problems. Maybe something has changed with or is different with Home 10?. Click the HD FAQ in my sig and read through that to see if maybe there is some info that will add to what you are trying to do.

Actually it was those posts that inspired me to try cloning on my own :D

I read everything I could but could not find the answer to this issue.

You guys are right. Anyway I do have the X31 Recovery CDs (which is the same as was on the hidden partition, right?) so I may as well leave well enough alone especially since I'm having no luck Cloning my X21 (see other post).

That's kind of the weird part. My original HD only showed ONE partition in XP's Disk Management and in Acronis TrueImage. However when I booted the old HD there was the F11 option which I no longer have. Before cloning I did hit F11 (just to see what's there) and up came a few icons letting me chose various restore options. After the clone I now only have the option to go into the bios.

Weird huh?

BTW, is that screenshot of Clone or Backup?
