Photoshop and Video hardware

#1 Post by Oaklodge » Wed Apr 18, 2007 6:58 pm

I've read a lot about gaming requiring the latest and greatest video cards and not using shared memory.

What is recomended for a heavy Photoshop user and a 26" monitor (1900 x 1200) ?

Will the Intel chipset be good or should I only consider laptops with 3rd party video cards ?

I'm assuming that I'll need 256MB of video ram but is this correct?

Thanks.

Photoshop does not require 3D graphical operations, so graphics card power has nothing to do with it. Any video card (integrated too) will be fine.

If you do batch processing, like camera raw files, I would add a fast HDD for the requirements list.

I use photoshop all the time with a lotta high res files.... what you read here so far is correct.... lotsa hdd space for the temp files that are created by photoshop and a good amount of ram and you're set.... infact i've seen low end processors with the right amount of ram supporting photoshop very very well....
