Free Wi-Fi software eliminates need for routers
Came across this interesting article:

You can download the (free) software there as well.
Sounds like the bee's knees!

How is this any different from our existing ability to create ad-hoc wifi networks?

I think it is probably based on the same principle. In addition, VMware has internal networking to connect machines on the same box, so there are precedents already for software networking. Nonetheless, it is an interesting article and thanks for posting.taob wrote:How is this any different from our existing ability to create ad-hoc wifi networks?
In a fixed environment (like a home, office or campus residence) a hardware router still makes more sense to me as they are robust and inexpensive. And, I have not needed to "go out the internet" to connect machines using the above approach.
