we use dell's at work and they have a docking station which also connects into the monitor stand so you can use the power switch on the front of the stand instead of on the dock.

is there a t60 equivalent so i can attach my advanced mini dock? i'd like to save a little space on my desk by putting my monitor on top.

also needs to be sturdy enough to hold a dell 2407wfp.

Lenovo makes a great one. Check out the Lenovo Convertible Monitor Stand (P/N: 40Y7620). It can withstand even huge CRTs.

that looks exactly to be what im looking for, taken from http://www5.pc.ibm.com/uk/products.nsf/ ... enDocument
The rear supports ensure maximum visibility and access to the system and docking controls located beneath the monitor. The stand's bottom plate firmly secures either the new ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock or the ThinkPad Essential Port Replicator for a complete desktop expansion solution.
..is the "new ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock" definately the T60 compatible part? as in this one: http://www5.pc.ibm.com/uk/products.nsf/ ... enDocument

i just want to be sure that i dont end up with a non-compatible part is all :)

Yes, this stand fits only the T60 port replicator and the advanced mini dock. I am thinking of getting one in fall.

brilliant, going to have to try and source a cheap one in the UK that has it in stock, saw one on ebay at around $40 but delivery to the UK is an extra $100!

arrived this morning, first impressions are that the dock doesnt "lock" into the stand in any way, just uses plain old gravity to keep it in place. it raises the rear of the TP/dock so its angled a bit.

secondly, if you have a dell 2407wfp, it wont sit on the top stand properly as there isnt enough surface area for the stand to sit on. the old xx04 monitors (ie 2404wfp) should be alright as its a D shaped base and would sit on it fine.

there was an option to mount it directly to the stand but i have the soundbar on my 2407wfp as well, i didnt think the whole thing would fit so didnt attempt it.

the top stand is strong enough to hold a 2407wfp but if it had a wider base to accomodate the stand then it would be perfect.
