I hope I'm posting at the right place....

I've uprgraded my T41 with non-IBM, Atheros WiFi card. I've applied "no-1802 patch" and it works fine, but Fn+F5 combination doesn't work. I receve following message:

Code: Select all

Lenovo Wireless Adapters (802.11, WAN or Bluetooth) are not installed on this system
Is there any solution to make it work?

TNX in advance.

I have X31 and I installed Intel 2915abg. I had thought that I will work excellent - these cards are installed in ThinkPads, and this card make my Centrino platform complete 8) . But it doesnt - Fn + F5 doesnt work, and led doest get light.
I hobe that someone solved this problem and wants to tell us how to fix it. :)

if i am reading both complaints correctly, each of you installed non-ibm/lenovo wifi cards..

(though for the love of sanity, i can't understand why ANYONE would install the intel variety over the atheros variety)..

the problem is that the bios will inspect the wifi card to be sure it has been approved for the thinkpad..
by all the local radio frequency licensing agencies..
in the US this is the FCC..

if it has not been approved, then the bios will reject it..

you can rewrite the bios or get a true blue ibm/lenovo wifi card..

I hadnt wifi card earlier so it's my first one in this ThinkPad. Thank you for replay. My card has FCC and CE (the same like FCC but in EU) certificates. So I understood that ThinkPads has securities inside (like 1802 bad wifi card) witch sacure not users but IBM company against buying cheaper wifis without IBM logo by users. Is that correct?
