What is the DVI highest resolution on docks.

I know that the older docks for T20, T30, T43 don't support DVI resolutions greater than 1280 X 1024 even though the chips do and the VGA output does.

Does anyone know if there is a fix for that so that higher resolution flat panels can be run on the DVI.

Also the new docks for the T60 are different and Lenovo is not stating that there is a DVI resolution limit. Does anyone know if there really is a limit or not?

It isn't the dock, it's the ThinkPad that is causing the problem. See this document:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-43994

It says those machines have problems with resolutions higher that 1280x1024 and is not supported so probably no fix for that. A workaround could be installing another graphics card with DVI on the pci slot of the dock II.

Been doing some searching and I was not able to find any information regarding maximum resolution of DVI.

Follow up. I am currently using a T43P with the mini-dock. I have a 1680 X 1050 flat screen external hooked up. I just bought a DVI-D single cable and tried it and it works clear up to 1600 X 1200 (the screen is native 1680 X 1050 so that is better).

Anyway, whatever the limit was it is gone with this T43P that has an internal display rez of 1400 X 1050.

Thanks for the help

wasnt it a problem with the drivers? i recall having to use dhmodtool on my t42 to get it to recognise 1600x1200 on the dock.

It must have been drivers. I update drivers several times a year and I had not tried this since just after getting the T43P which was almost two years ago.

I first encountered it on the T30 and assumed it was a dock issues and carried that assumption forward to the T43p when in fact it was a computer issue.
