#1 Post by skanky » Thu May 10, 2007 9:21 am

do these exist? i usually have a soundblaster plugged in my t60's pcmcia slot but that leaves a gap above it where the expresscard slot is and want something to fill the gap..

i know dell do pcmcia blank filler cards but not sure about expresscard blanks.

anyone know where i can get one from? (uk preferably)

If you want something _useful_ to fill the gap, you might want to take a look at the Stash Cards: [url]http://www.stashcard.com/[/urll]

They only cost about $10 and fill the slot perfectly.

I have one for my X60s and it fits all the way in and is flush with the outside so it doesn't stick out.

I've toyed with getting a stashcard for my T61 as I rarely use the PCMCIA slot, but since the expresscard slot is on top, and the door flips up from the bottom, inserting a PC card means the expresscard slot is open to dust accumulation. That's simply a deal-killer for me. If the door flipped down from above, then I'd go with it, but unless I have a dummy insert for the expresscard slot to use in tandem, I just wouldn't use the slot.

Is there a black dummy that fits flush with a T61? (I'm unsure of the HP and Acer parts I see)

Get two of those Dell PCMCIA filler cards.
Cut the upper one to size, and glue it on top of the full-size bottom one.

Wouldn't that prevent the use of the stashcard? I'm interested (vs. the OP) in using that to store SD cards, etc.

My above solution was for covering both slots.
You can possibly glue just a small strip of say 1/2" from the blank on top of the stashcard.
Use your imagination!

Considering the design of the stashcard, I think gluing the face of the blank on it might not hold up under regular use; especially if the area where the blank would need to be glued to were an aluminum region of the card. I'll consider it, though.

I'll echo a previous post, to say that it's disappointing an expresscard version wasn't introduced. The original site is still online, so I assume the PCMCIA version is still being produced (odd, in this day and age).
